I am intrested to see how your action research turns out. You and I action research project can be somewhat similar to a certain extent. They have laso taken away a tutoring center for our students and now students just do not want to go to any tutoring at all.
This project data could be applied to the elementary schools for research, as well. I will be following you to see how your data progresses as a possible topic to address at my campus. Great idea!
I have always wondered about this...in my elementary school we start tutorials in January, and the kids all want to participate. It's exciting and it has proven to be effective more the majority of students. I don't know if high school student are really interested in tutorial...or how your school did it before...so I would really like to know if kids enjoyed and appreciate being tutored or not? Are they upset because it is a shorter period of time now? How long was it before? I am glad you have decided on this action research... and looking forward to reading about your progress Kate!
I work on a high school campus and the students want tutorials. Right now some of the teachers are not doing tutorials afterschool so the students will come into the lab that I work in and ask us for assistance with their work. We even have students come in during lunch wanting help.
